How did we ever live without it?

Demetrius Spaneas Music | Site Launch
Demetrius Spaneas, a Musician, Composer and teacher had built a static HTML site on his own which served him well for many years as a promotional site for his work, tours and news. Late last year, he decided the static site was taking a major effort to continually update was not serving his purposes anymore. At the time the site was being hosted in one place, CyberAccess, and the domains were registered in another, GoDaddy, plus he had a travel blog on Google’s Blogger.
After a meeting in Boston, we discussed pulling together his digital back-end [domain registration and hosting] and the functional front-end [website and blog] into one cohesive identity that is far more dynamic and easier for this busy musician to update himself. The result is a new account with Dreamhost, a full service green webhost and domain registrar that combines excellent customer service with one-click install of the WordPress based blog platform.
After importing Demetrius’ Blogger travel site, consulting with him on a new site structure, refining his content, building out several pages and sections, adding an audio player and finally training Demetrius on how to use WordPress, www.dspaneas.com was launched.
Jamaica Plain Inaugural Ball | Site Launch
Here in Jamaica Plain, Roxbury and Roslindale we have a couple very active and involved Ward Committees [11 & 19]. These Ward Committees were extremely involved in organizing around Barack Obama’s presidential campaign setting records for number of phone calls made from phone banks and doors knocks made by volunteers. In light of this activism, the Committees decided to host an Inaugural Ball on January 20th, 2009 at 8:00pm to both celebrate and act as a fundraiser for some local politicians. Through some personal connections, I was able to provide the pro bono service of designing and assembling the print identity and finally the website for the event, www.jpinaugural.com.
If you are reading this prior to January 20th, 2009, we still have some tickets available. Please come by.
Randi Zinn Yoga | Site Launch
In November, Randi Zinn and I met a coffee shop in Chelsea in New York City to discuss the creation of a website for her newly established private yoga instruction practice. She wanted the site to be simple, elegant and a reflection of her favorite color palette. Using photos taken by professional photographer, Michael Seto and working with business coach, Elizabeth Cahill, Randi developed very directed content that she felt reflected her personal yoga practice and instruction philosophy.  I took all of that information, researched several templates and assembled www.randizinn.com.

Holiday Party Season has Begun
Tis the season to be jolly, go to parties and have a blast. This is also the time we generally start to think about New Year’s resolutions. Let’s see what are the common one: Stop smoking, stop drinking, be nice to people, eat less and exercise more.
This year, I have chosen a less dominant path. Live in abundance. I mean, let go of some social mores and do what comes naturally until I get sick of it. Some people say that the more you embrace decadence the less you want it. We’ll see! I’m hoping this opens up new possibilities for me including future employment or maybe even a new relationship. All the while, I will be sure that my living in abundance behavior isn’t self-destructive but productive and valuable.
See you on the party circuit! Happy Holidays everyone!
This blog thing is a commitment, Man~!
I’ve been a slacker. I know. I’ve been told. Seriously, this blog stuff takes work. What to write, where to find your theme, how to position yourself in the marketplace, etc.
The last few weeks have been crazy with the start of the fall season, the Jewish holidays and for me, a new freelance job. I have just started working with Management Resources, (www.execmgt.com) a consulting company that creates strategic plans and does executive coaching for socially responsible businesses. I’m having great fun working with my friend Rob Lederer. We are in the process of seeking out a small office space. He’s been working out of his apartment and I have been working out of mine. Something has to give.
The holidays were wonderful. I went down to my brother’s place at shore and threw my sins into the Ocean. The sun was setting, the people were friendly and it was an absolutley spectacular way to start fresh. Onward and upward. YK was spent with lots of great friends. They know who they are.OK…hopefully I’ll be back at it more regulary…till next time.
